"Ladies" Luncheon Cloth

Several months ago I bought this little "Luncheon Cloth" at a flea market here in Kansas. It measures 36"X36" and is made out of fine linen. As you can see, it has a gorgeous lady with a basket of flowers embroidered on each corner. (Please try to over look all the wrinkles! HA) Just looking at it brings to mind the days when ladies use to have "Club" or "Card Parties" and used things like this, can you imagine? How they ever kept them clean and white is beyond me! From the shape this one is in, it's obvious it wasn't used much!

We are so much alike! For years I ran "Amazing Grace Shoppe" a antique and collectible shop. I did much the same in decorating that you are doing. NOw that I have moved back to our little homestead I am into decorating it in very country antiques and collectibles but all will be used. thanks for posting a comment on my blog and I will visit both of yours often!!

I have to say, I ran across your blog because peggy mentioned it on hers.....I must say, I have lots of friends, but I just wish I lived by friends like you and Peggy, because I just love to go antiqueing and to flee markets and just love the primative things to a degree.....and most of my friends do not....I would rather go to a antique shop or flea market than to a mall.....and they are mall people.....lol

Hi, I dropped by to say hello.
I too love old linen, especially ones with crinoline ladies.
I will drop by often.

Hi Sher,
I posted a message on here after your first post, but looks like Blogger didn't transmit it, for some reason. I was so pleased to be the first one to post on your blog, and now I'm not - waaaahhh!! Nuff of that...I am going to thoroughly enjoy seeing your collection, and your ideas of how to display linen. I have doilies on every inch of spare surface, and cloths on every table, all of which I change now and then to show off some new treasure.

Thanks for all your comments girls! Peggy, I loved the name of the shop you ran! Anytime you girls want to come to Ks., let me know and I'll be glad to have you...Always room and the time to have a "gathering" of treasure seekers! Love and Hugs, Sher P.S. I'll be posting pictures of my home soon!
